Psilonaut

Cameron Brendiar began spinning records in the 1970’s working at several radio stations. But it was in 1999 that inspiration came from local legend Rich Dickson, a.k.a. Spiritchild. “Watching him make magic is what inspired me to give Club Music a try,” says Cam. “I bought my first turntables and mixer in 2000, and began the painful process of figuring out how to do it.” He began spinning in the Progressive genre watching Sean McClellan and Chad McNeeley. But in 2003, he was inspired by the DeepHouse styles of Miguel Migs and Marques Wyatt.

The DeepHouse format forced Cam to hone his skills and develop a style all his own. Under the moniker of Psilonaut, Cam has spun at most all of the local Charlotte clubs, and was under the banner of Illusive Promotions. Cam has also performed for many corporate shows and special events, including Charlotte Shout’s ClubShout, where most of the stars of The Food Network were on his dance floor.

Since 2004, Psilonaut has released seven mix-sets that are highly acclaimed by local DJs, and fans alike. Cam works as Chauffeur/Concierge for the CEO of a large corporation, so he doesn’t get many weekends free, but he loves to spin his music for those who like the smooth, sexy, funky groove of Psilonaut.

Cameron Brendiar is also an accomplished audio engineer with his own 5,000watt sound system, which will be heard at the House Stage at the Venus event.
